This ministry will be dedicated to servicing the needs of people attending NBCC and families living in our East County community. We will be distributing food, clothing and other items that become available.
Here are some general Q&A's
1. What type of food/clothing items will be available?
We will carry non-perishable foods and some frozen items; Men, women, kids and baby clothing.
2. What days will the food I clothes pantry be open?
Sundays: 12:30pm to 2:00pm.
3. Who Will This Ministry Serve?
We will serve New Beginnings Church Members and the East County Community.
4. How will this ministry be financed?
Our ministry will be financed through church member donations and others that feel called to support this ministry.
5. Will there be any charges for the food I clothing items?
All food and clothing that come into our pantry will be distributed back into the church and community free of charge.
6. Will there be any paid staff?
No. All workers will be volunteers.
7. Will there be any administrative cost?
No.
8. What types of programs are envisioned for this ministry?
We envision having:
- Back-to-school clothes and school supply drives for our church and the community
- Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas toys delivered to families in need over the holidays
- Food and blankets pased out to the homeless during winter months
- Providing English-as-a-Second Language classes to integrate new Americans into our community.
9. How many times a year do families have access to the food/clothes pantry?
Families will have access to our food/clothes pantry three times a year. There will be exceptions made for families that bring a written referral letter from a helping professional. This could be a teacher, social worker, police officer, pastor, nurse or doctor.
10. How can I help support this ministry?
You can help by:
- Volunteering
- Networking by talking to businesses and friends
- Making financial donations
11. If I want to bring food or clothing to the church where can I drop it off?
We will have barrels labeled ERC in the church foyer.
12. Will I be able to get a receipt for my donations and use it as a tax write-off?
Yes. We will have receipts available.
13. Will we be partnering with other agencies?
Yes. We will be partnering with other agencies and hopefully other churches to stamp out hunger in our communities.
